1. Introduction First Solar Inc. was founded in 1999, with the first commercial production taking place in 2002 and an initial public offering (IPO)
taking place in 2006. The company manufactures high performance thin film photovoltaics (PV) modules. The company is selling a differentiated product serving
a market that is increasing in size manufactured in a facility certified to ISO 9001: 2000 quality and ISO 14001: 2004 environmental management standards the modules are manufactured for sale
to commercial customers through solar power system developers and integrators (First Solar, 2008). The company currently has plans to increase production in 2009 so there will be 23 production lines
at the end of 2009 and it appears that there could be a good future for this company. 2. Background With increasing fuel prices and rising environmental awareness there
has been a increasing interest in solar power due to its inexhaustible nature. It is Against this background that the company was developed and has been able to grow.
The company, which deals with 12 main companies who are developers and integrators working with commercial solar power projects and the company is
undertaking international expansion as well as domestic expansion, two production lines were added to the Ohio facility in August of 2006 increasing the plant capacity to 75MW, in the last
quarter of 2007 the new plant in Germany with four production line reached its full capacity, which took the company to a full capacity of 308MW. There is also the
