to find that first elated feeling, as if walking on air. Looking back on first love it is the model for later relationships as it is idealized not only at
the time, but also in retrospect. When I met my first lover it was not love at first sight, he was a friend who I got to know. His
jokes were funny, his laugh was happy and the way in which he carried himself had dignity and confidence. In hindsight this
was the beginning of the relationship, but naivety and innocence let me remain blind to what was occurring, The attraction was mutual, we spent may hours with each other. We
could talk though the night about anything, arguing and agreeing on what was wrong with the world and how it could or should be out right, to discussing the latest
pranks carried out by friend or even soap opera story lines. Other times words were not needed, we could just tit and enjoy each others company, happy to but there,
not feeling any awkwardness at the absence of words, just feeling contented. These were the early days before we realised the relationship that would emerge. It was not a
sudden blinding realization, but a gradually building on the foundation of friendship. The first kiss seems natural and expected, but was till accompanied by butterflies in my stomach and an
