Turner and Frith. Leonardo da Vinci The Annunciation originally came to the Uffizi Gallery in 1867, but at that time was thought to be the work of Domenico Ghirlandaio.
Two years later critics decided that it really was a piece done by the da Vinci while he was still an apprentice to Andrea del Verrocchio. We have started with
this piece in our discussion due to the many stage-like qualities, which it includes in its presentation. Probably the first art element that may be applicable to scenic design
is that of line and composition, sometimes this is even called compositional line. Notice how a left diagonal is formed from the edge of the angels gown upward, and
