of them is not real, and does not present them with the slightest reflection of reality. But, there are many films which make us believe in certain possibilities and certain
realities. In some cases we believe because the situations in front of us are very far from mirroring our own experiences through presenting various economic or employment positions. For example,
we can watch a film about people who sell stocks and feel that it is an accurate, or at the very least, possible representation due to the fact we do
not have that job and know nothing of the profession. In the case of the film "Finding Forrester" most viewers are not scholars, they are not academics, and they are
not from the inner city. In the following we examine the film and its wrongful representation of reality. The paper first presents a summary of the film, and then presents
an examination of the essay titled "The Achievement of Desire" by Richard Rodriguez. Rodriguez essay deals with the education of an individual from a minority culture. The remaining section of
the paper presents an examination of how Rodriguez work relates to the film, illustrating it as invalid in many cases concerning reality. Finding Forrester Jamal is the primary
character in this story. He is from a family that consists of his mother, who is single due to her husbands death, and his brother. His brother does not live
with them but is still an active member of the family. Jamal and his family are African American and they live in the Bronx. As such we assume they are
relatively poor, although Jamal seems to wear nice clothes, as do his classmates who are predominately African American. And, no, he and his friends do not sell drugs, nor do
