climate there appears to be a great deal of attention paid to cash flow. Even if a firm has good long term prospects there is a requirement for the firm
to be sufficiently liquid to survive to realise that future; this has been a problem for a number of firm in the credit crunch. This has been the cause of
a number of company failures (Carroll and Van Buskirk, 2009; Airline Business, 2008). Looking at the liquidity ratio of Starbucks may be a source of some comfort in these tumultuous
times, the current ratio, which measures the ability of a firm to pay current debt such as current assets appears to be relatively stable over all three years, increasing slightly
in 2008, in 2006 and 2007 it was 0.79, in 2008 it is 0.81. This is an extremely stable current ratio, and although it does not demonstrate the ability to
paint with current debts after current assets, in a service industry where there is a high turnover of cash this is an acceptable level (Elliott and Elliott, 2007). The company
