society. It is often argued that violence in television and video games influences children to become more involved in violent behavior. There are those who argue that this is not
the case, or that parents can control the amount of violence children are exposed to if they are concerned. Interestingly enough, films are not often thought about, by the average
individual, as being influential in terms of violence and society. But, there are those who argue that films are equally responsible for violence in society as are video games and
television. The following paper examines film and social violence. Film and Social Violence The student requesting this paper illustrates how the author Tom Clancys film Clear and
Present Danger is a film wherein good and bad is cut and dried. The good guys are good and the bad guys are bad and as such violence is necessary
in fighting against the bad guys. The student also indicates that Jonathan Swift indicated that violence in society was often created through ones environment and stressful situations in their environment
such as poverty. Both of these perspectives are likely very correct in relationship to how violence emerges in a society, and in film. In further examining this topic Jo
Ann Beard, in her essay The Fourth State of Matter, illustrates how a young man, Gang Lu, becamse so disgruntled with life and with his studies in physics that he
