a close look at the problems of Yanamamo kinship. It is an intriguing film which has received much acclaim and recognition in the educational field. This film is
a brilliant display of Aschs talents and highlights his passions of filmmaking and anthropology. Timothy Asch was a Professor of Anthropology and
Director of the Center for Visual Anthropology at the University of Southern California (The Ax Fight, 2002). He was born in 1932 and died in 1994 (The Ax Fight,
2002). He became quite interested in still photography and among his apprenticeships was one with Ansel Adams (The Ax Fight, 2002). Asch served in the Korean War
and when he returned he completed his degree in anthropology (The Ax Fight, 2002). While he studied at Columbia University, he "worked as a teaching assistant for Margaret Mead
who got him interested in the potential use of visual media for instruction" (The Ax Fight, 2002). Essentially, this movie is about a fight which ensues after a
woman has been beaten (Ax Fight, 2002). "The film focuses on a brief single event, a fight among the Yanomamo of Venezuela" (Asch, 2002). The fight breaks out in the
first place in response to a conflict between the villagers of Mishimishimabowei-teri and their visitors from another village (Ax Fight, 2002). These visitors had previously lived in Mishimishimabowei-teri
and so some of their friends had invited them back for a visit (Ax Fight, 2002). This was fine except that parts of this community were very displeased with
this and didnt want them back in their village (Ax Fight, 2002). Now, the makers of this film, Asch and Chagnon were staying in this village as well and all
