topic of debate not only in the United States but around the globe for many years now. Some argue that homosexuality is a serious moral problem for our society. Others
shrug their shoulders and say, "Whats the big deal? Its just sex". Authors and sociologists have debated these issues for years trying to determine whether there are social taboos that
exist around same-sex marriage and if there are moral issues in which gay marriage should be perceived. It is without question an issue filled with a great deal of emotion
on both sides of the argument. Those in favor of it believe people of the same gender should be allowed to marry someone of the same gender and be entitled
to the same rules and laws that opposite-sex marriages are allowed to follow. There are a number of arguments as to why people believe same-sex marriages should be legal and
there are just as many arguments as to why people believe same-sex marriages should be illegal. Nevertheless, while the federal government of the United States does not acknowledge same-sex marriages,
each state can establish its own set of laws as to whether two individuals of the same sex can join together in holy matrimony. Currently, there are five states (Iowa,
