people argue that he is a merciless leader who oppresses his people while others claim that he has vastly improved Cuba and saved many lives. With such a truth in
mind it comes to personal opinion perhaps in relationship to an argument of whether he is a good leader or a bad leader. The following paper briefly examines his life
thus far and then examines how his revolutionary actions have truly helped a great deal of Cubans. Fidel Castro: His Life and Strength Fidel was born in
Biran, Holguin, Cuba, to a wealthy farming family. He was brought up in Jesuit schools and in 1945 attended the University of Havana where he studied law. Interestingly enough, one
author notes that during this time many gangs controlled much of what happened in the political arena of Cuba with some aspects of the control sanctioning murder to achieve an
outcome (McFadden, 2004). At this time "Campus politics were known as an important stepping-stone for a career outside the world of the university" (McFadden, 2004). Fidel graduated from such a
campus in 1950 and for the next two years he practiced law (Fidel Castro, 2004). In 1952 he planned to run for parliament but the election was canceled due to
an overthrow of the government (Fidel Castro, 2004). At this point "Castro charged Batista with violating the constitution in court but his petition was refuse" (Fidel Castro, 2004). As
a result of the refusal Castro organized an armed attack in 1953. Castro was taken prisoner and sentenced to serve 15 years in prison (Fidel Castro, 2004). When he
