French theaters before the French Revolution of 1789 implies that the community regarded these women as opinion leaders alongside politicians and royalty. Actresses were treated as equals of actors in
the theater as they contributed equally to the management and design of dramatic productions. The French Revolution and the events leading to it are discussed in terms of gender differences
