risk of sexual assault at the hands of the enemy that would be faced by female combatants has contributed to a lack of public support for an integrated military front
line defense. This lack of public support was included in the reasons cited by the Department of Defense in their 1998 decision to uphold current policies that disallow females
in direct ground combat. The Department also listed the lack of separate facilities and the inherent lack of female ability to maintain strength and stamina as reasons for this
decision. B) Accusations of sexual misconduct and harassment in both the 1991 Navy Tailhook incident and the alleged abuse occurring at Marylands Proving Grounds in 1996 contributed to the
general unpopularity of the concept of an integrated military and demonstrated problems that could result from such an integration. III. The Arguments of the Advocates & Answers to Those
