there is a very powerful realism in these stories as they essentially depict this authors life. Many read such stories and believe that the author is clearly elaborating on realities,
making it an entertaining story when, in truth, Mowats works are not mere elaborations but descriptions of a life that most have never experienced. And, interestingly enough, it seems that
Mowat is from a long line of individuals whose stories are perhaps off the beaten path and thus hard to truly believe. Bearing these realities in mind we present the
following paper which examines Mowats "Born Naked" and "Never Cry Wolf," illustrating how Mowat was like his father, and his father like the one before, thus illustrating how very real
much of Mowats work truly is. Born Naked This story takes us back to the childhood of Mowat, presenting us with numerous tales that seem almost ridiculous, or
at the very least, highly elaborated. In this book we see that Mowat comes from a very long line of men who never really fit in anywhere. They were men
who did not exist in that real world of mankind, thus presenting us with stories we cannot necessarily believe. For example, Mowats grandfather was a poet and a general failure
at all he tried. He was a dreamer. This was clearly passed down to his son, Mowats father, Angus. Angus was also a poet and a dreamer, though he did
eventually find a little success as a writer and librarian. Angus was also a simple beekeeper at one time, presenting a living that required the family live on oatmeal, soda
crackers, and honey. However, a pestilence arrived and killed most of the bees. Angus then tries his hand as a sailor which created a great deal of struggle for the
