Medical Leave Act (FMLA) has called greater attention to the need for more flexible work options that help in reducing the work-family conflict, more efforts must be made to support American workers in the difficult decisions and responsibilities they face in day to day life. Certainly the FMLA greatly benefits todays Americans by recognizing the importance of well integrated and empowered families which, in turn, will benefit American society. The FMLA is a significant endeavor to bring to light the importance of family issues as they intersect with work and, therefore, create a more family-friendly environment in todays workplace. The most progressive and employee-oriented companies have already made the efforts to establish this atmosphere; the FMLA has provided the legal mandate for other companies to do the same. II. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY To understand the breadth and scope of the Family Medical Leave Act is to realize the inextricable relationship between work and personal life.
