destroy it. Discussion The first paper focuses on what Falun Gong is, its claims to be a peaceful movement, and what its adherents derive from it. The founder of the
movement, Li Hongzhi, has created an extensive web site that explains it in detail. Much of the information thus comes directly from him. Obviously, though, we will have to
use other sources since he is not unbiased. Well begin with the paper that discusses what Falun Gong is, and the peaceful aspects of this system. What Falun Gong is:
Religious, Peaceful Aspects of the system: Since Li Hongzhi sort of jumps right in to his explanation, well start with a site that actually titles itself "What is Falun Gong?"
This site tells us that Falun Gong is a term that "refers to five sets of movements, which include physical exercise and meditation, that practitioners believe heighten their physical well-being,
spirituality, and moral awareness" (What is Falun Gong?, 2007). The motions that the followers of this system use are designed to "rotate the falun, a spinning body of energy said
to be located at the lower abdomen" (What is Falun Gong?, 2007). Followers of this discipline believe that these exercises stimulate the energy found in the body at the same
time that they absorb energy "from the universe" (What is Falun Gong?, 2007). The energy absorbed from the universe "releases negative elements from the body and remedies abnormal conditions within
