for children though enjoyed by adults as well, are Frank L. Baums "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" and C.S. Lewis "The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe." The following paper
discusses the fairy tale elements in each story and then compares and contrasts the two. The Wonderful Wizard of Oz Moat people are more familiar with the film
"The Wizard of Oz" than they are with the novel which the film was based on, titled "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz." But the essentially story remains the same. The
story involved a young girl who is obviously quite unhappy with her life. She wants adventure, romance, color, fantasy in her life. A cyclone hits her house and essentially puts
her into that world, a world that is dangerous as well. This very simple explanation thus far illustrates some very important themes in fairy tales. These themes often relate
to magic and danger. Fantasy, or fairy tales, are never truly without dangerous elements. This is important in order to bring the characters to life in a way that speaks
of some moral message in the end. Through danger the characters are made stronger, and they are developed more powerfully, truly pulling the reader into the story. Without some danger,
more often than not represented by some witch, the characters would learn nothing, would experience no adventure, and would, in all honesty, we would have no story or seriously entertaining
plot. In returning to the story we see that each of the main characters wants something. And, the truth is that they already possess what it is they most
