BRINGING ABOUT CHANGE IN SOCIAL WORK PRACTICE It is easier to practice social control rather than social change. Social work change means grasping new ideas and new concepts
that we are not used to standing up for, and this takes more innovation and passion than does simple control in social work. In order to continue control in
social work practice, one must merely deal with the rules that are already in front of us. Change in social work practice, on the other hand, means writing new
rules, and fighting for the change that is necessary. Attempting to ascertain the factors that influence human social behavior is a grand task, for even though humans as a species
are much the same, individually there are many differences. There exist myriad areas pertinent to the study of sociology where sociologists can draw conclusions as to their effects on
human behavior. Some of those areas include community, family, substance addition, divorce, deviant behavior, child abuse, public opinion and government. In short, there are a number of characteristics
that make up a human being and his or her intrinsic behavior, and it is the sociologists responsibility to attempt to put all the various pieces together that explain why
