man struggles with sleep apnea. A physician in Sioux Falls SD, more than 300 miles away, wants to monitor the patients breathing patterns, both while hes sleeping and awake. But
the patient, who doesnt drive and cant count on neighbors to bring him on the 300-mile trek, cant visit the doctor in person. Furthermore, the doctor cant visit him -
even if he did make house calls, hes not going to make the four-hour trip back and forth to deal with this one particular patient.
The solution? The patient is hooked up to a machine that monitors how well he breathes, the oxygen levels in
his bloodstream, and when his breathing stops, for how long. In far away Sioux Falls, the doctor takes a look at the results, notices the apnea is moderate but still
requires treatment, and prescribes a breathing machine for the patient to use at night or while sleeping. Furthermore, the patient can continued to be monitored throughout the nights, to ensure
