This is especially the case as employee recruiters look to the future. Since the dawning of the millennium, recruiting efforts have undergone a
seismic shift. For one thing, newspaper want-ads have been replaced by Internet job boards. But future trends in the recruitment arena promise some more interesting challenges. Positives for the Future
One aspect of recruitment that is proving successful and that likely will continue to do so in the future is online recruiting.
Elkington (2005) wrote in Personnel Today that online spend for recruitment advertising has increased since first introduced in the mid-1990s for several reasons. Increase in broadband among Internet users has
increased, making it easier both for job seekers and employers to interact (Elkington, 2005). Furthermore, more advanced corporate recruitment sites will also be more appealing for job seekers (Elkington,
2005). Elkington goes on to predict that "super suppliers" could step into the industry, offering employers a range of methods by
which to attract job candidates including print media, job boards, recruiting agencies and the Internet (Elkington, 2005). Smith (2008) goes one
step further, believing that online recruitment will become more commercial-niched to target a particular type of employee. She also cautions that the ease and "fun" of online recruitment could lead
