and their next actions will determine the next steps. While Frost does focus a great deal on mans indecision, in many ways,
he also attempts to outline the basic concept of human virtue and values in his other works. This paper will attempt to define how he does this, both by describing
what other poetry critics have to say about Frost and through analysis of some of Frosts works as well. Through his poetry, Frost does attempt to show the human condition,
but not in a maudlin, sentimental, "hit-them-over-the-head" way, but rather through imagery, through hard language amid soft settings, is Frost able to discern the human condition of virtue and high
values. Robert Frost, by many of his admirers (and even by his own admission), was mostly considered a realist and skeptic who
wrote poems that dealt in inevitabilities - the change of seasons, the brief joys combined with large sorrows and miscommunications that keep men and women apart (Liebman 417). He also
was someone who, as Derek Walcott classified him, was ". . . the icon of Yankee values, the smell of wood smoke, the sparkle of dew . . . the
jocular honesty of an uncle" (Walcott 29). In being such a man, notes Walcott, Frosts poetry reflects this as well, taking place in a world in which the virtues of
