outlandish, primitive, or simply unbelievable? Sound like something from the past? Not necessarily so. Most of the Homeopathic practices utilized by indigenous peoples have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity over
the years, which may go to show that sometimes the old ways are the more effective ways. Going to the pharmacy for
a remedy is taken for granted in many countries of the world, but for a majority of the worlds population, traditional medicines and remedies serve as the primary health care
for their families and communities. Though there are a myriad of pharmaceuticals on the market these days, many are returning to the traditional medicines, finding out that new does not
always mean improved. Some would argue that the medicines from the pharmacies are standardized and thus an exact amount of the medicine
is delivered to the patient. Of course, this assumes that the medicines were meant to be given in standardized dosages. Think about it. Who determined that standardized dosages, a set
amount, should be delivered to a patient at a given time. Perhaps the dosage strength in the home brewed remedies was sometimes stronger, sometimes weaker depending on the individual. Over
the counter medicines do not offer this flexibility. In many countries where modern medicine is trying to gain a foothold, the
most successful programs have included the traditional healers as part of the primary health care for the community. This can be seen to be a smart move for a few
reasons. Firstly, the traditional healers already have established relationships with the people of the community. Secondly, the healers know the culture and are a part of it. They inherently know
