to business or to even work. However, there is a thriving financial community in Florida, particularly in accounting and international banking. This paper will examine certain trends in financial
jobs as they pertain to Florida. For one thing, although the stock market is uncertain and economy still a slump, accounting professions
are still in demand both throughout the United States and in Florida (Epstein 2003). There are several reasons for this -- the main one being a decrease in its supply
of talented accountants and an increase in demand (Epstein 2003). Another reason is because the industry itself is changing -- audit and consulting firms have split, meaning there is a
new breed of accounting professionals stepping into the gap (Epstein 2003). Florida, being an international gateway of sorts from Latin America, also
has demand for international accountants. This particular profession helps companies comply with international rules and regulations (Epstein 2003). Another reason why accounting
and financial professions are on the rise in Florida and elsewhere is because the accounting scandals and new laws impacting financial reporting mean that professionals who have top-not accounting skills
are more in demand than ever (Krell, 2003). And these professionals are getting paid well for their skills -- compensation for financial professionals and accounting has increased over the past
