automatic response Song, 2003). E-commerce provides FedEx customers with a great deal of convenience. How can e-commerce provide a competitive advantage for FedEx Corporation?
FedExs main goal (and method to differentiate itself from the competition) is through the offering of a positive customer experience (Alghaligh, 2007). But in the early days, FedExs
foray into IT was somewhat slow and cumbersome (Alghaligh, 2007). Back in 2000, the company was regularly getting trounced by rival UPS as the latter managed to capture more traffic
(Rocks, 2000). But these days, the companys use of information technology is hugely important to its daily operations (Alghaligh, 2007). For example, FedEx
is offering supply chain management as a selling point - but rather than simply moving packages through the system, the company is coordinating entire supply chains for its customers, which
requires integration of varying degrees of customers ERP software (Alghaligh, 2007). This has helped FedEx develop and retain a competitive advantage because it can provide "deep visibility" in customers supply
