destiny of several key persons in the twentieth century. These astronomers would further the field of astronomy as well as expand the worlds understanding of principalities outside of our known
world. Their contributions have made it possible to boldly go where few have gone before. Dr. Stephen Hawking has something of a cult following himself. Suffering from motor neurone disease
for practically all of his adult life, Dr. Hawking did not allow this progressively debilitating disease to stop his work. In fact, he would go on to state that having
the disease only served to focus him more and help him in his resolve to explore the universe. Dr. Hawking has worked on a variety of astronomical projects, but most
notably are his contributions toward figuring out and proving many of Einsteins theories on relativity and the nature of black holes. He seems to have an insatiable need to understand
the laws which govern the universe. Along with fellow scientist, Roger Penrose, he was able to show that Eisnsteins General Theory of Relativity implied that space and time would have
a beginning in the Big Bang and an end in black holes(Hawking, 2003). This brought about a marriage, of sorts, of Einsteins theory of relativity with Quantum theory, one of
the great discoveries of the twentieth century. What this discovery led to was the theory that black holes are not really black, but rather put off a sort of radiation.
This would continue, he theorizes, until the black hole would simply collapse, or evaporate(Hawking 2003). Another one of his theories is that the universe has no edge or boundary in
time as we know it. His works include: The Large Scale Structure of Spacetime with G F R Ellis, General Relativity: An Einstein Centenary Survey, with W Israel,
