so much as hero figures but as human beings with ordinary human faults as well as good qualities. In lines 25 - 32 of book 22 there is a description
of the way that Achilles travels to the city which shows not only his physical strength but also the power of his emotion. In line 25 he states Id make
you pay If only I were powerful enough, but immediately after this we are shown how powerful he really is, as the way that he runs is compared to a
prize-winning horse pulling a chariot at full speed. This shows us not only that he is strong and powerful, but also gives an indication of how fast he is able
to run. This emphasises his physical prowess, and the fact that he is a warrior. These lines also show us that he is emotional about the situation, since we are
told that his heart is full. This tells us about Achilles character - he is not a practical, cold-blooded sort of soldier, but someone who is influenced by his feelings
and emotions. In lines 125-8
we see Hector awaiting his battle with Achilles and again there is a strong indication of the emotion which drives and influences these warriors. At this point, Hector is blaming
himself for what he considers to be a tactical mistake which he has made, when he says I didnt listen. If Id done so, things wouldve been much better. As
a result he is blaming himself for the army being wiped out. This gives us an insight into the character of Hector: he is not only a warrior but someone
