The way in which the group accomplishes this task is to explore the "new digital vocabulary" that seeks to "bring cultures together over the internet" (Prototype). The culture that
to which this statement refers is any culture-artistic, racial, or by any other designation-as it exists in international "digital" space. By comparison to two of the other typographers, Fords work
in the collection is the most allegorical and asymmetrical. Frank Ford belongs to Thirstype, a collective of typographers, all independently based in cities
around the world, in 1993 in Chicago, Illinois. The collective was founded by "Rick Valicenti and is now home to nine of the worlds most renowned typographic talents" (Thirstype).
Whereas the collectives purpose "is to provide an arena of typographic expression for artists whose ideas are indigestible to current tastes yet are historically relevant," as well as creating
a forum for expression, and commissioning individual typefaces on a per-project basis, the font typography is distributed by companies such as Prototype (Prototype; Thirstype). Prototype also "conducts research daily
to develop this new type of typography" (Prototype). What the new typographers do is create fonts around both the traditional alphabet and symbols
used much like the Japanese alphabet. Although the symbols do not do away with the traditional alphabet entirely, identifying the appropriate symbol on a piece of paper can be
tricky. The beauty of the work is that it is highly artistic and expressive-and the title of the typeface represents the general form of art expressed. Therefore, the
typeface is purchased in the idea or emotion that will be expressed. It is recommended that the student researching this subject explore three of Frank Fords typographical faces
