Company Background Long a stalwart fixture of the American automotive industry, General Motors is one of the largest companies in the world, and the second largest manufacturer of automobiles
in the world. The company already does business in more than 150 countries across the world, in operations that employ more than 200,000 employees. When General Motors re-entered the New
York Stock Exchange after an unfortunate restructuring in 2009, the company attracted some 20.1 billion dollars of investment right away, some of which hails from international governments. In other words,
this is a major organization with many multinational interests that is looking to aggressively expand into new arenas of business in preparation of maintaining an advantageous position in the market
well into the future. China is a particularly receptive market for the expansion of manufacturing businesses such as those in which General Motors engages, largely due to favorable market
conditions and taxation structures that support such ventures in a manner which is more facilitative than those in other countries such as the United States. In fact, the company has
