With the attention of the world fixed on China in 2005, it was the responsibility of the president of Yum! Restaurants International (YRI) to ensure that the YRI division of
Yum! Brands continued to grow at acceptable rates in other parts of the world. The company owns and operates Kentucky Fried Chicken (KFC), Pizza Hut, Taco Bell, Long John
Silvers and A&W. KFC and Pizza Hut are the leading brands in the companys international markets. The president of YRI had no
"low hanging fruit" to harvest first, because China had been separated out into its own division. Though certainly Chinas market is an international one, the president of YRI had
no responsibility for it, only for ensuring that other parts of the world would grow as well. The scenario is that McDonalds has
been operating in Latin American countries for years, but has not fully won over the more formal and traditional populations of Brazil and some other Latin American countries. The
purpose here is to identify Latin American countries that appear to be able to provide favorable growth for the company. YRI already has a significant presence in Mexico; the
