Heart Huckabees, concepts related to existential thought abound and a blanket is used to explain how all human beings are connected to one another. The idea that everyone is a
part of a grand plan, and a force that aligns people together, is something that is thought to be equated with existentialism. However, again, existentialism is always more than perhaps
something that one may place his or her finger on. In defining and exploring the concept of existentialism, it quickly becomes clear that existentialism is associated with experience. It
would be hard to conclude that something exists, or to find a belief in existence, simply by thinking things through or reasoning. For example, one may reason that God exists
because it makes sense that someone or something created the world, but most people do not accept such logic. They believe in God because of things unnamed and unseen. They
believe in God because of their experiences in life. This logic carries over into other areas of life. It is thought that a child learns not to put his hand
in the fire by being burned, despite the fact that he may have been told many times not to touch the stove. Similarly, existentialism relies on experiential knowledge.
II. Themes of Existentialism Existentialism is simply a word used to describe the reaction against Hegels philosophy and its abstract nature (Honderich, 1995). Hegels philosophy in fact was
so divisive that there would come about groups on the left and right of his theories. Hegel was someone who was adored by Karl Marx. In any event, Kierkegaard is
