Your points are well taken: Any Local School District has a number of multi-cultural and diversity awareness programs/celebrations that focus upon other ethnic backgrounds besides American, which recognizes the ever-growing culturally diverse population attending American schools. It is because of this developing ethnic population that such programs and celebrations are necessary, inasmuch as the academic environment is often the only place a child has the opportunity to learn tolerance toward and acceptance of other cultures besides his own. We understand your concern over what appears to be the homogenization of traditional American holidays and other celebratory dates, especially when considering the multicultural composition of your own family and how you risked your life to protect those very American ideals. In the effort to better demonstrate the great need our society has for once again becoming the multicultural melting pot it was more than half a century ago, it has become a natural progression to restructure the way in which children of Any Local School District are taught to appreciate such elements as national independence and religious recognition. This modification is in no way meant to discount the given holiday/celebration, but rather enhance its importance by comparing it with the way in which other nationalities celebrate their similar events.
