militaries to have the flexibility and diverse capabilities necessary to respond to these potential threats in the service of national security. This is the reason behind the existence of the
Department of National Defense and the Canadian Forces. The Canadian Forces is the militant arm of Canadas Department of National Defense. It is an organization devoted to the protection of
Canadas interests, and as such serves three vital roles. The first of these is defending Canada against internal threats and any of the types of aggression mentioned above. The second
of these roles is defending North America in general, through mutually beneficial collaborations with the United States and other countries in the North American continent. The third role fulfilled by
the Canadian Forces is the promotion of international peace and security throughout the world. It is the first of these duties which is most pressing, therefore it is said
