and values that are tied to her heritage. In terms of gender, she might pick up the idea that the man is strong and powerful and engage in relationships which
are patriarchal in nature. Of course, she might rebel and find someone from a completely different background or slowly integrate more modern concepts of gender relationships. In terms of
sexual orientation she may be against homosexuality and see it as something that goes against God and in terms of class, she may embrace the notion that the working class
is good and that the elitists are the ones who are not to be admired. Still, larger societal notions of prestige will enter the picture and this could supersede traditional
family values. Peer associations also have an influence. In Maries case, the family structure is patriarchal. Also, she does have many prejudices against gay people and also embraces the working
class mentality. She is heavily involved in union activity as is her father. The theory of internalization is appropriate when analyzing this concept. In exploring family and cultural issues
