in the United States who exist in a position wherein they are vulnerable to the mainstream powers. One of the most vulnerable populations in the United States is that of
the developmentally disabled. These are quite often people who do not know how to protect themselves and often do not even really recognize the fact that they need to protect
themselves. The following paper examines this particular vulnerable population. Examination of a Vulnerable Population: The Developmentally Disabled It should perhaps first be understood that the student requesting this paper
asked for a topic with which the student was familiar, a population that the student had some experience with. This writer/researchs connection or experiences with this particular group may not
be anything like those of the student. But, this writer/researchers experience with this vulnerable population is personal and long. The writer/researcher has a much older sister who was born developmentally
disabled and that sister lives on the same property in her own house. The writer/researcher also has a daughter in her 20s who is developmentally disabled due to a childhood
illness. As such the writer/researcher has many personal experiences with this vulnerable population. There are many reasons why this particular population is vulnerable. For one thing the developmentally disabled
come in many shapes and sizes, or levels of disabilities so to speak. There are those individuals who need constant care for they can do nothing on their own and
then there are those who are able to live almost completely on their own in special communities, even holding down jobs and otherwise living normal lives. All of the various
types of disabilities, however, come with levels of vulnerability. For example, an individual who is physically as well as developmentally disabled may get constant care from a parent or facility
