at an Adam and an Eve. As such there is clearly evil in the story as temptation and lies and evil deceit ensue. The following paper examines the presence of
evil in Lewis novel. Evil in C.S. Lewis Perelandra The main character in this story is Ransom who is sent to the planet where he meets the innocent
human Tinidril who essentially lives on a floating raft/island as was put forth in the law of their God. She, and her husband the king who does not appear for
most of the book, are not allowed to sleep on fixed land. They do not know what evil is and live a very pleasant life in paradise, naked and pure
like Adam and Eve. Even Ransom is naked and he finds that he is not sexually attracted to Tinidril because of the purity and innocence of the place. This essentially
sets the stage for presenting a pure and good reality, a reality wherein evil does not exist. As such evil can be seen as represented in beings, perhaps not natural
beings. But there arrives a man, Weston, who seems possessed by a demon and tries to convince Tinidril to sleep on fixed
land. This makes Ransom very aware of the potential evil in Weston, realizing that if Tinidril succumbs to Westons arguments the Fall of Man, and the existence of evil in
their lives, will take place. In this one sees the evil of disobeying God, of being tempted or lured into doing wrong, and in the basic evil nature of people
