that saw little interest in war as the decade progressed. The Cold War was an issue, but not as pressing as it had been previously, or would be in the
1980s. It was a time of new discoveries and various events. From Watergate to the innovative reality of video games, the 1970s were a time of change and history. In
the following paper we examine some of the major events, the culture, and the development of science and technology during the 1970s. Events In the beginning of the
1970s we saw involvement in the Vietnam War, but the involvement was losing power and backing from the government as well as the people. Within the first two years of
the 1970s we saw the war cease to be an active concern. Yet, Nixon was still in office. And, it is in regards to Nixon that we saw one of
the most influential events of the 1970s, that being Watergate. "On June 17, 1972, five men were caught burglarizing the offices of the Democratic National Committee at the Watergate
apartment and office complex in Washington, D.C. Their arrest eventually uncovered a White House-sponsored plan of espionage that was directed against political opponents" (Anonymous Watergate and Nixons resignation 20f2b85ea95). Many
high ranking officials were involved and all of the information that was being uncovered further led to the fact that "highest ranking official of them all - Richard Nixon, the
President of the United States," was at the center of all activities (Anonymous Watergate and Nixons resignation 20f2b85ea95). "On April 30, 1973, following a Grand Jury investigation of the
burglary, Nixon accepted the resignation of Haldeman and Ehrlichman and announced the dismissal of Dean. Attorney General Richard Kleindienst resigned as well" During all the following investigations and court hearings,
