philosophers have used the idea of color to coincide with the notion of intrinsic evidence. For this author, something exists in a certain way due to the fact that it
presents itself in that manner. A blue ball is a blue ball and that is how it is perceived. In some way, Chisholm agrees with the notion of objective reality
or what the fictitious professor in Rent calls actual reality. In philosophy, there has always been the notion that there is either an actual, objective reality or it
is purely subjective. However, one question that comes forth is, does the answer lie in between? This is an important notion. Whether peoples perceptions cloud their view of reality, or
whether it does exist are questions to ponder. In The Directly Evident, Chisholm does just that. The result is an explanation that in fact there are things that are directly
evident. These are in fact things which are intrinsically known. In some way, this idea may be aligned with the collective unconscious or the idea that indeed, there is something
that is true and real. Whether or not individual human beings know what that is, is besides the point. Yet, the author fails to address the real problem of intrinsic
knowledge which is how one is sure that it exists. Human beings have perceptions of the world, and they often differ, which is why the concept of objective reality is
difficult to prove. At the same time, Chisholm does provide a good sense of the concept and actually makes some good points about the acceptance of the notion that some
