strengths than weaknesses. One of the initial strengths in this lesson was the two surveys administered, thus, collecting different types of information about the student population. One survey queried students
on their intake of calories, fat and sugar while the other queried students about their ability to read and understand information on the nutritional labels found on all products. It
would not be beneficial to students to teach lessons on healthy eating habits if they do not understand what the nutritional labels mean. Further, the lesson designer included an assessment
of learning studies, including those referred to as multiple intelligences. Some reviewers might suggest the teacher should assess student ability to do simple arithmetic functions. There is only so
much a teacher can do and at high school level, it would be reasonable to believe all students will be able to perform the simple arithmetic problems included in the
lessons. It was also important that the lesson designer stated that not all students need to lose weight. Different students have different goals for such a class, such as wanting
to change their body composition or to bring their bodies within healthier BMI ranges. With different student goals, the teacher would provide information to meet these different goals. The results
of the surveys lead to a very clear list of performance gaps. In other words, the needs assessments provided the focal points for the instruction, which are, in fact, the
