the researcher who would produce high-quality work must know the relative value of the information s/he consults in the course of that research. Certainly appearances can be deceiving, but
when assessing the credibility of sources appearances - and authors credentials - can provide a wealth of information. Articles in Publications Suppose a
researcher set out to write a paper on high speed chases. A pass through Google returns wisdom titled "Eliminating High-Speed Police Chases" describing a remote "kill switch" that police
could use to make the engine of the "runnee" stall and so eliminate the need for a dangerous high speed chase through city streets. An search of an online
database returns an article titled, "If It Speeds, It Leads," appearing in the Los Angeles Magazine. Another article, "Supreme Court affirms limits on local liability for high speed chases,"
appeared in Nations Cities Weekly. Still another, "High-speed police chases and section 1983: Why a definitive liability standard may not matter," appeared in Defense Counsel Journal.
Is there a way to distinguish among these articles and use them with confidence that the information contained within them is correct? Errors are possible
