there are special characteristics which denote the idea that the Europeans stumbled on a great deal of wealth in North America, so they colonized the Amerindians, went through the Industrial
Revolution and "finally attained global dominance." This is a sweeping generalization but seems to have much truth. In examining North America today, one can see how the region dominates the
rest of the world, including Europe. In part, this may be attributable to natural resources, but this major land grab that took place during the fifteenth has significantly altered the
world. Eventually, the colonists broke away from European influence and the United States of America emerged as the dominant world power in the twenty-first century. The idea that the explorers
like Christopher Columbus seized land that really did not belong to them, and enslaved others to work the land, is largely a new one. For centuries, American children grew up
to celebrate Columbus Day and thought that the explorers were somehow kind to the Indians. The new arrivals taught the Indians new ways of living and there had been a
nice Thanksgiving. As time went on, stories surfaced about how Columbus mistreated the Indians and that the nice, neat picture that had been painted by historians was simply untrue. Clearly,
the Europeans took the land that belonged to the Indians. While few dispute that point, many note that Indians continue to have their own nations and that they were in
fact paid for the land. Still, they were paid much less than the lands true value and they should have had the entire United States instead of just small patches
