cultural phenomena as well. When cultural anthropologists engage in the study and observation of contemporary cultures through direct primary observation, this is known as ethnography, a sub-discipline which serves as
a means of consolidating knowledge about a particular culture, subculture, society, or community. In this way, the sociological dimension of cultural anthropology is revealed. However, when one is conducting an
ethnographic study, one must be extremely careful to carry out observations in as objective a manner as possible. This is because, as in any scientific exploration, there is a wide
range of factors which have the capacity to heavily distort and corrupt the conditions of an ethnographic study, and by extension, the findings resulting therefrom. Therefore, any successful ethnography requires
the identification of such biased and corrupting factors, and correcting the experimental design to account for these biases. This paper will plan and carry out a light ethnographic study of
a local subculture, with the intent of showing how researcher biases as well as external disparities in subcultural cohesion can impact the ultimate findings of an ethnography. This paragraph
helps the student introduce the topic of research. Selecting the subject of an ethnographic study from the local community of Little Egg Harbor, New Jersey was determined by looking at
the major ethnic and social demographics within the community as a whole, and then selecting a subculture with sufficient size and distribution to be effectively studied through a statistical sampling
