ones skin or the sound of ones voice, racial bias in popular culture has likely tainted public perception of that particular race on at least one occasion or another.
Television has always held the precarious responsibility of being able to make or sway public opinion about myriad concerns; tainting the reputation of entire races is no exception. By
a television programs very existence, the industry has been singularly accountable for a great many biases that exist toward ethnic and cultural communities today. These television programs, appearing to
take delight in perpetuating stereotypical images, have literally cast a shadow of disgrace upon many as a result of their ethnic and cultural bias.
Indeed, television and ethnic/cultural bias has been a long-term problem; bigotry and prejudice have had a healthy existence in society for a very long time. The hardship that
televisions bias has caused the ethnic and cultural populations is immense and far-reaching. One type of production in particular that treads the line of indecent stereotypical bias is that
of television talk shows. Whatever socially redeeming qualities contemporary television talk shows may have, they have not made themselves apparent. The only obvious benefit of such shows as
Ricki Lake, Maury Povich, Montel Williams, Jenny Jones or Jerry Springer is to corrupt the fragile balance that already exists between and among ethnic/cultural communities, all in the name of
