were common to people all over the world (Richter and Barnum 42). As this suggests, values refer to principles, ideas and concepts that people believe to be correct and beneficial,
both to themselves and to society. Ethics, while often used synonymously with "values," generally refers specifically to actions and behaviors, rather than to abstract concepts, although ethical actions are
often associated with an underlying value when they are formalized in a professional ethical code. Organizational ethics can be defined as "the articulation, application and evaluation of the consistent value
and moral positions of an organization by which it is defined, both internally and externally" (Spencer, et al 5). In other words, "values" refers to the beliefs or ideals that
are mutually shared within a culture and dictate how that culture defines right and wrong; "ethics" is a formalized set of principles that define right behavior that draws upon this
cultural understanding. In a study conducted by Rawwas and Isakson on academic cheating, the student-participants "tend to blame professors for widespread levels of cheating," which suggests that these individuals
need supervision, i.e., someone watching them at all times, in order to maintain ethical behavior (Rawwas and Isakson 321). Ideally, supervision, that is, someone or some agency keeping vigilant guard
