relatives have never been able to conceive a child. In this case, they start thinking about having one, despite their advanced age. They look for sperm and egg donors as
well as a surrogate. They do find willing participants and while fertilization and implementation is successful, there is a genetic disorder found in the womb. The disorder would involved gender
reclassification. John and Jane, as a result, ask their surrogate Gina to have an abortion. Gina is against abortion and is even ambivalent about giving up the baby. Of course,
Gina is only the surrogate whereas Thomas is a sperm donor and Diane is an egg donor. This unlikely scenario presents many ethical questions, the first of which,
who does the baby belong to? The genetic parents are really Thomas and Diane. Gina, as a surrogate, also may have some legal rights. John and Jane may have a
contract with the parties but are not genetically related to the baby at all. Other issues go to the age of the adoptive parents. Jane and John are too old.
