Boeing Aircraft is one of the few companies in the commercial aircraft manufacturing sector that has managed to keep its head above water in these trying economic
times. Much of the companys success can be attributed its heightened sense of ethics and the emphasis of right and wrong. These ethics are emphasized in practically every
aspect of the companies pursuits, from the manner in which they deal with their suppliers and buyers to the manner in which they deal with their employees. Boeing recognizes,
in fact, that the manner in which they deal with their employs is directly related to their success or failure in the field. One particularly notable example of ethics
in action in the workplace can be observed at Boeing. Boeing strives to heighten its employees self-perception and to call on that self-perception when deciding issues of right and
wrong. This approach is critical in that how an employee perceives others, himself, and his surroundings determines that persons motivation and his likelihood for success or failure in a
particular endeavor. It is also critical in that the employee who perceives himself as capable of making the right decision is more apt to do so even in complex
situations. This results in a workplace which is largely stress and conflict free. The ethical model at Boeing in regard to improving
an employees self perception has a positive impact in a number of workplace situations. One manifestation of this is the lack of extreme controversy which often is in evidence
