radio shows, discuss issues amongst themselves and write about them in the classroom. As one can see, however, the "moral" questions are sometimes nothing more than etiquette or appropriate ways
of responding based on some socially constructed dictum. Other questions go deep into the souls of man and in fact are the very questions that have been confronted by philosophers
through the ages. Many of these questions go to intrinsic right and wrongs and whether or not people have a responsibility to act in a certain way. Some take the
view that man should simply look to pleasure and seek to avoid pain, but most philosophers have found that there is more to life than pure hedonism. Rather, people should
attempt to at least address the basics of morality. In Nicomachean Ethics, Aristotle in fact does confront basic questions of morality and what is right and just, as well as
ideas about politics and what is best for society. Obviously, politics play an enormous role in this area. Politicians are the ones who will eventually hold office and decide what
to pursue in respect to issues like abortion, stem cell research and capital punishment. They also make decisions that are entrenched in the rights of the people. While Plato and
Aristotle did address these issues in many of their writings, some would be surprised to learn their beliefs about the power of the people. One example in respect to
