I. Introduction A lack of ethics is often implicit in cases of police brutality. It is true that perhaps many people who join the forces are honest,
ethical human begins who want to help people. Yet, the police forces are comprised of all sorts of people. There are many people in the world who do not honest
and do not live by a moral code. Unfortunately, many of these dishonest souls are found in police departments around the nation. This seems to be the case not because
officers are prone to be corrupt, but that they are just human beings. Further, they are handed a great deal of power and are on a higher level than the
average citizen due to this fact. Police departments are a microcosm of society and see all different types of people in its midst. Some are corrupt and some are brutally
honest. Others are insensitive, and still other officers are quite helpful and caring. Ethical behavior is something that can be learned. It is based on certain principles. In fact,
police officers are taught rules and regulations and in that context, they are provided with some form of ethical training. However, ethics really go to the individual and what he
or she believes is right and wrong. A code of ethics will likely hold two models. One is whether one believes something out of context, and another that goes to
the way they behave in society. They adopt a practical code of ethics that includes lying to protect a friend, or obeying a ridiculous law because they value conformity. These
