sort of code of conduct. It is indeed important to understand the general nature of ethics and how it differs from morals
and values. Ethics are something which many dont often think about, and yet there is great value in considering our own ethics as well as the general principles of
ethics. When we better understand our own ethical codes of conduct we are better able to determine our behaviors and actions. What Are Ethics?
Ethics can be defined as the "shoulds" and "oughts" of life (Character, Ethics, Morals and Values, 2002). Ethics transcend culture, ethnicity, and socio-economic conditions (Character,
Ethics, Morals and Values, 2002). In more formal terms, ethics actually is the logical study of moral values (Yaman, 2002). However, this can and does also include introspective
study of ourselves (Yaman, 2002). Ethics are types of values which are interpreted as prescriptions but no coercion is involved (Morals, Ethics, and Pragmas, 2002).
Ethics is concerned with how a moral person should behave, whereas values are the inner judgments that determine how a person actually behaves.
Values concern ethics when they pertain to beliefs about what is right and wrong. Most values, however, have nothing to do with ethics. For instance, the desire for health and
