There are many areas in which information technology (IT) is growing and changing. Greater levels of information being collected and stored, often without the knowledge of individuals, opens
some IT functions to questions of ethics. Some question whether we truly have equal access; others are concerned about potential political consequences and abuses of the extensive IT networks
that now exist. Social Issues As tech stocks alternately soar and crash, the "haves" and "have nots" most visibly are separated by their
material possessions and relative wealth. Most of the attention trained on the information society and growing technological capabilities has been that of enhancing the ability of the "haves" to
achieve even greater levels of accomplishment. It has now become evident that business will not revert to its earlier forms, and it is

Internet and computer usage increases in society ... computers will lead to a highly stratified society separated by information haves and information have-nots" (p. 33).
