in the counseling professions is discussed in a broad sense. The code of ethics for counselors is looked at in a variety of contexts. Issues discussed include the responsibly
of the counselor, fee considerations, risk of danger to society when confidentiality agreements are kept, personal disclosure and termination of services. Other issues discussed are problems with group therapy and
why a therapist must take care to create appropriate groupings. Ethical and professional trends and concerns have led
to the formation of something called the Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification "Ethics Task Force" (Tarvydas & Cottone, 2000). The task force was given instructions to rewrite the ethical code
for rehabilitation counselors (2000). In this situation there were historical issues but the latest revisions in the code is expected to serve the profession by guiding ethical and professional practice
through most of the twenty-first century (2000). A code of ethics is of course the identifier which tends to define a profession
for its stakeholders and scholars point to an extensive body of academic literature on the subject (Tarvydas & Cottone, 2000). Practitioners may cling to certain clinical tools or practices
and the public, legislators, and regulators, are most often concerned with the resolve of the profession to responsible practice as well as to regulate its members as defined through a
code of ethics (2000). The code, along with the processes used to enforce it, is essentially a prescription for how members of the profession define appropriate practice (2000). The
