tract infection. Some months earlier, she had also received treatment for facial injuries she suffered as the result of a fall. However, despite her age, prior to her
injuries and subsequent bout of illness, the patient had been living independently in an apartment, in which her sister resided downstairs. The patients present status in the nursing facility

nursing home, claims that the woman is a fighter who never articulated any desire to end her life. There is currently no advance directive or healthcare proxy (HCP) in
place, and so it was recommended that until the patients mental capacity improves and there can be a more concise understanding of her wishes, she would remain on life support.
