examining this is to look at an example of an incident where an ethical decision had to be made. The incident took place a fast food restaurant. This is
a place that employees a large number of people, including many students. The levels of commitment to the employer are mixed and the general attitude is for the employees to
do as they are told. The incident concerns the way in which waste was dealt with. In many countries and states that are regulations regarding the way in which
a firm disposes of different substances. This includes environmental legislation; however in many cases employees may not understand the exact nature of the law or even appreciate what is and
is not permitted. The fast food chain makes use of large amounts of oil and/or shortening. The oil is regularly filtered in order to extend the life of the
oil. However, once it has reached the end of its useful life it is usually placed into special containers and sent to a specialist waste company. The oil has to
be placed into sealed containers and it is collected once a fortnight. Any containers not sealed will not be collected. It is important that al continuers are taken due to
the space constrained, and by the end of two weeks there is not more room left to store the old oil. The store is very busy, while the oil/shortening
is filtered or changed at night when the store is closed, it cannot be sealed into the containers when it is drained and changed as the containers can only be
sealed after the oil has fully cooled. This means that the preparation of the containers for sending the oil away can only take place the following day, with the day
